Mina Sews, The Great Divide, 2020, fabric, mixed media

Metamorphosis into What The World Needs To Be.
A mask to represent where we are at at this point.
Restricted by the throws of government and power.
Suffocating.
A mask to represent the way we all need to unite and cherish through love for ourselves, each other and our beloved, Mother Earth.
Thriving.

Mina was born at Nellis Air Force Base in 1971, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has lived and worked here the majority of her life with time spent in Colorado and Florida.

She prefers to design fashions in a variety of textiles and plans on incorporating hemp into her future designs to help shed light on just how important hemp is for our future as well as Mother Earth's future. She studied briefly at IADT, but for the most part is self-taught.

Her work has been featured in Showcase Nevada " The Afternoon Experience", on the UK Travel Channel "The Ethical Hedonist", “Hempfest” and “The Life Cube Project” and published in Koncept, Evvo, City Life and “Mutt n' Jeff's Classics” calendar.

From 2010- 2015 she directed and produced various fashion/production shows to raise funds for a different charity per show. Events were held at Tommy Rocker's, The Artisan, Beauty Bar, Town Square, Downtown Las Vegas, Aria, Pin Up Pointe Gallery and on the Las Vegas Strip. Events included  “Twisted Xmas”, “Rockabilly Couture”, “Easter Couture”, “Creepy Christmas”, “Bettie Page Tribute” and “Pin Up Rendezvous”.

With this art submission I plan to show you my version of a "Metamorphosis" A dramatic, yet beautiful take on the masks we must wear.
